Make Room for Spices on Your Tables

I am someone who uses spices frequently. Especially on these cold days, the immune-boosting effect of spices should not be ignored. Among the spices that have many benefits besides strengthening immunity, my favorites are;

  • Turmeric
  • The active component of turmeric, which has very high antioxidant properties, is 'curcumin'. This compound also has very good anti-inflammatory properties. It also prevents unwanted clotting in the vessels by increasing blood circulation. In addition to its cholesterol-lowering effect, it is also effective in losing weight by accelerating metabolism. It is a very good immune system defender. It is a spice that should be consumed frequently, especially during the winter months.

You can add turmeric to your meals and soups, and you can also easily use it in dairy products such as yoghurt, ayran and kefir.

!! It is beneficial to consume it with black pepper to increase its effectiveness.

  • Cinnamon
  • This spice, which keeps blood pressure in balance, is like the right hand of diabetic patients. Cinnamon, which is very good at balancing blood sugar, is also very effective in reducing the need for sweets. You can add it to your teas and waters to regulate appetite during the day.

  • Ginger
  • One of its most well-known properties is that it is effective against nausea. In addition, ginger is the main enemy of conditions such as cold and flu. It is very effective in strengthening our immune system and relieving complaints such as cough. It contains the active ingredient "gingerol", which stimulates blood flow, relaxes the veins and lowers blood pressure.

You can add ginger to your water or consume it directly as 1-2 cups of tea.

  • Coriander

  • Coriander

  • This spice, which is not consumed much, actually has many health benefits. Especially with its antioxidant properties, it prevents blood vessels from clogging. It prevents the decrease of LDL and triglycerides, which are called bad cholesterol in the blood. In short, he is a true friend of the heart. I recommend those who do not know this spice, which you can easily use especially in meat dishes, to try it as soon as possible.

  • Thyme
  • Another spice that is beneficial for heart health is thyme. Especially It attracts attention with its antioxidant properties that will repair damaged vessels. It also has a strong antimicrobial property. Thus, it is effective in preventing bacteria and fungi from forming in the body. We should not forget that it makes our immune system strong. This spice, which you can easily use in meat dishes and soups, should not be kept too far away from the tables.

  • Cumin
  • Another spice you can add to your soups and meat dishes is cumin. This spice is especially beneficial for breastfeeding mothers and their babies to consume. It is perfect for those who have gas problems. Cumin, which is known to have an increasing effect on breast milk, also has a blood pressure lowering effect.

  • Chili pepper
  • My right hand is chili pepper. This spice can be sweet or bitter depending on its type. Of course, red pepper flakes, which are rich in vitamin C, beta carotene, iron and antioxidants, are one of my favorites not only because of their taste. Strengthening immunity, protecting against cancer, and facilitating digestion are among the few reasons why this spice should not be missing from your tables. However, red pepper flakes are one of the supporters of our body in the weight loss process. You can easily use it in your meals and salads.

  • Basil
  • Basil, which gives a different aroma to every dish it is added to, is my favorite in chicken dishes. This spice, which has antioxidant properties, has anti-cancer properties by repairing DNA. It is also an antibacterial spice. While it goes well with meat dishes, my favorite dish, especially in the summer months, is the eggplant dish with fresh basil.
