Technology Use in Children

In our society, we see technological devices in the hands of everyone, from the smallest to the oldest. I would especially like to focus on the mistakes made in the use of phones, tablets and televisions, which we call 3T in children.

When we look at today's children, when you give them a phone, they know everything, they understand everything easily and are often equated with the situation of "my child is very smart". Since the sense of curiosity is highly developed, especially in preschool children, they will be curious about whatever you put in front of them, and will try to discover and solve it. Children should not be labeled "smart" as a result of their ability to grasp technology immediately.

Using technology unlimitedly or not introducing the child to technology at all?

Actually, it is neither. Unlimited use of technology in children will bring many problems. Turning on a cartoon to distract their child so that they can finish their meal is a process that begins with the parent giving a phone to his child and keeping it in front of him for hours, so that he can finish his meal. The child will get used to this situation and will always want this method. The child, who is used to playing games on the tablet and watching cartoons for hours, becomes unaware of the limits in his use of technology. As a result of long-term exposure to technology, children may experience many problems such as lack of communication skills, eating based on objects, eating without feeling or knowing, being disconnected from the outside world, being attached to technological devices, and anger problems. Most of these may have been done by parents, the important thing is to know the skill of setting limits and to teach the child this. If limits are not set, technology addiction may arise.

The other issue is not to introduce the child to technology at all...

There is also a group of people who think that technology is harmful and try to expose their children to it... When the child grows up, he can go to a kindergarten or a kindergarten. When he starts kindergarten, he is first introduced to watching television there, and then the process of being stunned begins. Of course, technology has its disadvantages, but it also has its advantages. At this point, we need to ensure the use of controlled technology rather than the "all (unlimited) or nothing" approach.

So, how does the use of controlled technology happen? Suggestions for parents…

With the child They continue their development by taking this as a model. Therefore, parents have a responsibility here. As much as possible, we should not introduce children to technology until the age of 3. In order to be the right model, we should be careful not to watch television all the time, or to be constantly on our tablets or phones. Spending quality time with children and showing that we care for them physically and spiritually is important for their emotional development.

-Children's watching and playing time should be limited,

-The cartoons the child watches or the game he plays should be under parental control,

-There should be programs or programs that are not appropriate for the children's age. games should be prevented, Do you have difficulty setting limits as a person? This should be evaluated... First of all, one should start with other issues, not with limits in technology.

No virtual game or no cartoon can be more beneficial than the time spent with parents. Technology is not a rest break or a means of getting away from children.

Do not forget to spend time with your children to heal your soul...
