Other

“The I is always in the domain of the Other.” Jacques Lacan

What is encountered with language is the presence of an Other. And this encounter begins with the mirror phase. The baby experiences the mirror stage with the mother. Until he sees himself or his reflection in the mirror, he continues his life as a limb of the mother. It is both protected and nurtured by a sense of wholeness. The baby, who encounters himself in the mirror, identifies with his reflection in the mirror in the next process.

This period is the mirror phase. The mirror stage is between the ages of 6 and 18 months. It is the beginning of the baby's developmental autonomy. In the 12th month, the baby starts walking and the most important feature of this stage is mobility (the act of walking). However, the baby maintains an optimal distance from the mother. Well; advances enough to see or hear the mother in times of need. The baby, who has a certain degree of separation anxiety, comes into contact with the mother when this anxiety increases and refuels emotionally. The optimal distance to rediscover is also farther away. With the ability to walk; Facts such as trust, closeness, interest, distance, separation and ownership between mother and baby pass the test. During this period, narcissism has increased.

The baby, who is in the imaginary order with the mirror stage, begins to emphasize the effect of the symbolic order, which is expressed as the social, cultural and linguistic network, and the changes that occur with the organizers, over time. The existence of language has been important in terms of structuring the future situations such as the name to be given to the child by the parents before the baby is born, and conversations about the child.

Other others; It consists of factors such as the environmental factors in which the child is born and the socio-cultural level of the parent. These facts determine how he relates to himself and the people around him in any event he experiences in his later life. He feels pressure to show what is expected or to experience the consequences of his actions when he does not. Now that he is a subject (individual), he is alienated from himself by the blends of his own experiences. With this alienation, the subject subject to the symbolic order or the subject subject to the Other loses their freedom. Connected to the Other when faced with a forced choice situation. .
