A patient may fall into a coma due to head trauma, due to some drugs used, due to swelling of the brain
or as a result of biochemical changes in the body. Coma is graded by doctors and attempts are made to treat it in intensive care units rated by the health authority. Here, depending on the disease that caused the coma, the patient is seen and treated by experts from all branches of medicine.
The patient may never come out of the coma, or even if he/she does come out of the coma at times
as it is called in the public. It may remain in a state called "Vegetative Life". Some lucky
patients have to live with some sequelae after months and sometimes years of rehabilitation. Those who are much luckier can return to their completely normal life before the coma.
