Laparoscopic Appendectomy

The appendix is an organ located at the beginning of the large intestine, containing body defense cells. It is in the form of a tube with a closed end, approximately 6-9 cm long. If the place where it connects to the large intestine is blocked with a piece of food, fruit seed or intestinal secretion, inflammation begins in the appendix. This condition is called acute appendicitis.

The treatment of acute appendicitis is emergency surgery. Surgical treatment is performed open and closed (laparoscopic). Open surgical treatment is a treatment that can be applied all over the world. Closed (laparoscopic) treatment requires special equipment and surgical experience. In closed surgery, the surgery is completed in approximately 30-60 minutes through 3 small holes opened in the abdominal skin. Since it allows seeing all organs in the abdomen, other existing diseases can also be detected.
