SINUS LIFTING PROCEDURE

Sinus lifting procedure is a type of bone augmentation (expanding and strengthening the bone) procedure. There are two sinus cavities in the upper jaw, right and left. Sometimes, anatomically or due to bone resorption, these sinus cavities appear very close to the bone distance where the teeth are located.

When implant placement in these areas is planned, a special surgery is required because there is a sinus cavity in this area. With the sinus lifting procedure, this space must be pushed together with the sinus membrane and supported by placing graft material in this area. This special surgical procedure is called sinus lifting. The procedure takes approximately 20-25 minutes. It is important to obtain 3D imaging before the procedure. It is recommended that the sinus lifting procedure be performed by a specialist physician.

  • To prevent bleeding, you should not spit or consume hot foods for the first 24 hours after the operation. Hot baths should be avoided. Ice can be applied externally to the treated area.
  • Oral cleanliness should be taken into consideration to prevent infection in the operation area and for a good recovery. Since the negative effects of smoking on healing are known, smoking should not be used during this process.
  • Putting the lips to see the operation area should not be done as it may cause the stitches to open.
  • Nose cleaning with pressure should be avoided and sneezing with the mouth open.
  • Drugs prescribed by the physician should be used exactly as described, and no changes should be made without the physician's knowledge.
