Seeing a stripe of blood or blood mixed with dark brown sputum in the sputum is a symptom of acute lung origin or from the past. It is evaluated as a sign of bleeding.
If blood is seen in normal sputum, this may be a sign of some prolonged diseases and cancers.
Blood seen in sputum is not always a sign of bad disease. For example, blood in the sputum is very common in acute bronchitis and chronic bronchitis.
