Stain Danger in Laser

Experts state that caution should be exercised in laser epilation procedures, which have attracted especially men's attention in recent years, and say: "Old model laser epilation devices can cause burns to the skin and leave stain marks afterwards."

Dermatology specialist Dr. Nihat Özkan warned: "In old model laser epilation devices that do not have a cooling system, there is a possibility of burns on the skin and subsequent stain scars due to the light being captured by the melanin pigments in the epidermis, which is the upper layer of the skin." Emphasizing that redness may occur after laser epilation, sometimes lasting 5-10 minutes and sometimes up to half an hour, Özkan gave the following information: Anyone who does not have a condition or discomfort that would prevent them from going to laser treatment during their examination and interview can have laser epilation. The intervals given to laser epilation sessions vary between 4 and 8 weeks depending on the region. Not much pain is felt during the treatment. Only pain like a tire blow can be felt. However, female patients may feel more pain during menstruation, as the body's pain threshold is low. The same situation is observed in patients who come hungry.

Immediately after the application, a burning sensation and redness similar to a mild sunburn may occur on the skin, which will disappear within a few hours at most. The laser beam is not harmful to the skin. The laser beam does not have side effects such as infection or cancer and does not damage tissues such as lymph, mammary glands or reproductive organs. Before starting laser epilation treatment, the person should be seen and evaluated, if necessary, the cause of hair growth should be investigated by a dermatologist, and analysis and examinations should be performed.”
