GAPS Diet Founder of Cambridge Nutrition Clinic, Dr. It is a diet used to treat intestinal physiology-psychology syndromes, developed by Natasha Campbell-McBride while treating her son diagnosed with autism. Correcting the damaged intestinal flora (dysbiosis); It is a special nutrition program applied to heal the damaged intestinal wall and intestinal epithelial tissue. GAPS Diet should only be followed by experts who have completed GAPS CERTIFICATE TRAINING and have a GAPS TRAINER certificate.
GAPS Diet consists of 3 parts: GAPS diet parts can be followed in order, or you can start with the Full GAPS Diet.
GAPS ENTRY DIET
The entry diet consists of 6 stages. There should be no rush when moving from one stage to the next, and the next stage should be taken as the symptoms improve. Return of symptoms means that you are not ready for the new stage and you should go back to the previous stage.
FULL GAPS DIET
It should be followed for at least two years. If starting with the full GAPS diet, fermented dairy products should be added gradually, following the plan to start milk.
EXITING THE GAPS DIET
Fresh potatoes should be added, if there is a problem, continue for a while. The full GAPS diet should be continued. Fermented buckwheat and quinoa should also be included in the diet if tolerated without problems. Then, fermented millet, sourdough, wheat, millet and quinoa should be added respectively.
If all these can be tolerated without any problems, occasional escapades can be made, provided that they do not become a habit. However, some patients need to stay on the Full GAPS diet for life or return to the Full GAPS diet from time to time.
All nutrients added during the GAPS Entry Diet, Full GAPS and GAPS Diet exit phases should be introduced one by one, together with animal fat.
