1- Crowding
It is an orthodontic problem that occurs when the jaws are small or the size of the jaws is normal but the teeth are large. With early diagnosis, it is possible to solve the problem with removable appliances that can be installed and removed at an early age. In cases where the permanent dentition has been completed (all permanent teeth erupt in the mouth), it is possible to solve the crowding with fixed orthodontic treatment alone. In cases where the crowding is above a certain level, harmony between the jaws and teeth is achieved with different treatment methods and/or extraction orthodontic treatment that we apply to save space.
2-Spaced Teeth (Diastema)
It occurs as a result of the incompatibility between tooth and jaw sizes. It is possible to correct this problem with fixed orthodontic treatment methods. In the mixed dentition period, where milk teeth and permanent teeth are together in the mouth, the reason for the gap between the front two teeth, especially in the upper jaw, is that the muscle attachment called frenilum is attached to the gum lower than it should be. It is possible to correct this aesthetic problem with a simple surgical intervention and fixed orthodontic treatment. Another reason for the gaps between the teeth is the situation where the tongue is constantly placed between the teeth, which we describe as abnormal tongue habit. In such cases, treatment is possible with a method that eliminates this habit in the early period.
3-Covered Bite, Deep Bite
In normal closing, the upper While the front teeth are expected to cover the lower front teeth by a maximum of 2 mm, this cover is more than 2 mm in the disorders we call covered bite. In severe cases, the upper front teeth can completely cover the lower front teeth. The most important complication of this type of disorders is the tension in the joint as a result of excessive force applied to the jaw joint, resulting in temporomandibular joint disorders. It is possible to correct this problem at any age with fixed orthodontic treatment.
4-Crossbite
It may occur as a crossbite in the side back teeth or front teeth. Side crossbites occur when the upper jaw is narrow and if left untreated, it causes joint problems. Sort It is possible to be treated with various methods.
5-Open Bite
These are disorders that occur when opposing teeth do not come into contact. Open bite cases are mostly seen in the presence of bad habits such as thumb sucking, tongue sucking, abnormal language habits, long-term pacifier and bottle use in infancy, and mouth breathing. It is possible to treat these habits with correct diagnosis at an early stage. In adult individuals, improvement can be achieved in mild cases with fixed orthodontic treatment, but if the habit continues, recurrence of the problem is inevitable.
6-Missing Teeth
The most common missing teeth are the upper teeth. They are lateral (second front tooth). There are many reasons for missing teeth, especially genetics. In case of missing teeth, the teeth next to the missing tooth may lean towards this gap and malocclusion may occur. In such cases, the gap can be closed with orthodontic treatment.
7- Impacted Teeth
The most common impacted teeth are canine teeth. If the position of the impacted tooth is appropriate, the impacted tooth can be brought into the mouth with fixed orthodontic treatment. In cases where its position is not suitable, the impacted tooth is uncovered and the tooth is replaced with fixed orthodontic treatment to ensure correct function and aesthetics.
Jaw Anomalies
Dental disorders, which we call protruded teeth, are seen in cases where the upper jaw is positioned more forward than the lower jaw. The development of the lower jaw may be less, the development of the upper jaw may be more than the development of the lower jaw, or both developmental disorders may occur together. In severe cases, the lower lip may be positioned behind the upper front teeth and push the upper teeth forward, causing the disorder to increase. In such cases, the lower teeth may injure the gum behind the upper teeth. Again, in such cases, since the upper teeth are positioned forward, injuries to the upper lip and gums may occur as a result of possible trauma (various falls and impacts). In growing children (who have not completed puberty), in the treatment of such cases, treatment is applied with functional methods suitable for the jaw where the problem occurs. In adults, the solution to this problem is fixed orthodontic treatment. It is possible with. In very severe cases in adult individuals, orthognathic surgery may also be considered to ensure harmony between the jaws.
Lower Jaw Protrusion or Upper Jaw Retardation
In these cases, the lower jaw is called reverse deep bite. There are orthodontic disorders in which the front teeth are located in front of the upper front teeth. These problems can lead to irregularities and joint disorders in the jaw joint. Appropriate methods can correct the problem in the early period, and in severe cases, orthognathic surgery can be applied to ensure the proper relationship between the soft tissue and the jaws.
