Grapes and Life

Grapes, the fruit of the vine whose shade we cool down in the summer in the plateaus and from whose leaves we make delicious stuffed grapes, are not only consumed fresh but also dried, processed into fruit juice, made into molasses, wine and vinegar. Grape, which is the most produced fruit in the world after orange, protects the body against infections thanks to the substances it contains, and has anti-cancer, anti-obesity, anti-aging, anti-diabetic, immune and nervous system strengthening and joint disorders healing effects. In addition to vitamins, protein, carbohydrates and minerals, it also contains flavonoids, proanthocyanidins and anthocyanidins, as well as phenols and polyphenols such as anthocyanin, flavanol, phenolic acid, caffeic acid, catechin and resveratrol, which are extremely important for our health.
Although the content of grape juice is similar to grapes, there are differences between them in terms of fiber and oils. You ask why? Because these fibers and oils are in the seeds and the seeds are separated when making grape juice. It's hard to believe, but grape seeds contain 6-20% oil. Grape seeds, which often leave a bitter taste in our mouth when chewing, actually contain plenty of sugar. Grapes are rich in calcium, which gives strength to our bones, potassium, which regulates our heart function, and iron, which is responsible for blood production; It is rich in vitamin A, which protects our eye health and is also an antioxidant, B1, B2, niacin, which plays an active role in our energy metabolism, and vitamin C, which is an antioxidant vitamin and provides our body resistance. These ingredients are not the same, whether fresh, dried or molasses. Compared to fresh grapes, dried grapes and molasses contain less water, so their calorie, iron and calcium contents are higher.

Grapes and molasses are poor in protein. However, the amino acids it contains, which are the building blocks of protein, are so balanced that our body can benefit from the small amount of protein it contains at the maximum level, especially in raisins…

Let's take a look at the benefits of grapes for our health:

•It is a real brain food. A small bunch of grapes eaten in the afternoon invigorates the body and brain cells.
•The magnesium it contains increases our work efficiency.
•    It contains tartaric, citric, malic, succinic, fumaric, pyruvic, glyceric, glycolic, dimethyl-succinic, shikiminic and quinic acid accelerate the functioning of the kidneys and livers without harming the stomach and support the functioning of these organs.
•    Makes the body resistant to viruses.
•    Increases the activity of Vitamin C, thanks to the bioflavonoids it contains.
•    Peel, meat and Melatonin found in the nucleus delays aging.
•    It plays a role in connecting bones, cartilage, fibers and joints, which are the building blocks of the movement system.
•    It rejuvenates the skin by increasing cell elasticity and plasticity.
•    Thanks to the anthocyanin it contains, it protects the skin from sunlight. It protects against cataract problems and improves vision. It prevents cardiac arrhythmia and protects the heart by reducing vascular pressure.
•    Grape seed extracts prevent obesity by stopping the function of fat metabolism enzymes and help melt fat. and accelerates its development.
•    It is good for stomach disorders by increasing blood circulation.
•    It is effective against infections and has positive effects on memory performance.
•    Grape extracts, which can eliminate memory losses that occur in old age, reduce the amount of uric acid in the body. It protects the kidneys and relieves body fatigue with the iron it contains. It has been determined that the antioxidants in grapes and grape products protect the central nervous system.
•    It has been clinically demonstrated that grape seed extracts have a protective effect against liver diseases, increase the fibrous connective tissues between cells and reduce stress.
•    Grapes also have high boron content, which is important for bone health.
•    Grape juice is a very valuable food product recommended when breast milk is not enough.
•    Black grape concentrate is a product recommended to increase blood values and strengthen the immune systems of cancer patients receiving chemotherapy.
•    On the other hand, raisins, thanks to the polyphenols, phenolic acids and tannins they contain, reduce the post-meal insulin effect, alleviate sugar absorption (glycemic index)
•    It affects certain oxidative biomarkers and gives a feeling of fullness thanks to leptin and ghrelin.

According to the results of a study conducted in San Diego, it was found that both systolic and diastolic blood pressure decreased significantly in people who drank Concord grape juice for 12 weeks. 80 healthy men between the ages of 45-70 were used in the study. According to the statement of the American National Blood Pressure Education Program, it is estimated that a 5-fold decrease in systolic blood pressure can lead to a 14% decrease in deaths from stroke and a 9% decrease in heart disease.

Again, Concord grape juice. It has been found that it increases the elasticity of the artery wall. According to research, it is known that the ability of purple grape juice to slow down the oxidation of LDL cholesterol is effective in reducing the tendency for blood to clot. Both of these contribute to cardiovascular health.

According to studies, the antioxidant capacity of proanthocyanidins in grapes is 20 times higher than vitamin E and 50 times higher than vitamin C. Polyphenolic compounds at the level of 1,800 -3,000 mg/lt in red grape juice show antioxidant properties, blocking free radicals and preventing fats from oxidizing and accumulating in the body.

There are 20 known antioxidants in grapes. The number of antioxidants in black grapes is higher than white grapes.
The main beneficial substance in colored grapes is in the grape seeds, and heart patients should eat black and red grapes with their seeds. Grape must is a natural remedy that relieves rheumatism pain. Black grapes with or without seeds are juiced and consumed fresh every morning. He must die. Flavonoids in red grapes pass into the must and protect the heart. The reason why grapes and grape products protect the heart is due to the polyphenolic compounds they contain.

Grapes; Thanks to the phenolics, phenols, phenolic acids, stilbenes, flavonoids and anthocyanidins it contains, it is considered among the super fruits in terms of human health. Resveratrol, one of the stilbenes, is the best antioxidant discovered today. The most important edible source of resveratrol is grapes. It has been determined that this substance is especially good for vascular occlusion, cardiovascular diseases, certain neoplasm diseases and problems related to the immune system and prolongs life. It was revealed by studies that started in Japan in 1985 that grapes fight against cancer with the resveratrol substance they contain. It is also known that it is effective in lowering cholesterol and can reduce the risk of heart attack with Mediterranean-type diets. Because it has been demonstrated through in vitro, ex vitro and animal studies that resveratrol, which is more abundant in colored grapes, prevents the clogging of capillaries by showing antioxidant activity and prevents platelet accumulation in capillaries by modulating apoliprotein and lipid synthesis. Researchers who gave tumor-inoculated mice 1, 5, 10, or 25 micromoles of resveratrol twice a week for 18 weeks found that the number of tumors decreased by 50%, 63%, and 88%, respectively, compared to control. In a study conducted at the University of Illinois in 1997, it was determined that resveratrol prevented the development of lesions and reduced the formation of tumors in the skin in mice vaccinated against cancer. In addition, resveratrol has estrogenic activity and prevents osteoporosis after menopause. The part of the grape with the highest resveratrol content is its peel.

Low density fats (LDL), which oxidize and accumulate in the capillaries, block the vessels and cause coronary heart diseases. By consuming colored grapes fresh or processed into grape juice, low-density fatty compounds, also known as bad cholesterol, are prevented from oxidizing and accumulating in the capillaries and preventing coronary heart diseases. The risk of heart attack is reduced. The risk of death from heart attack increases in people who eat foods high in unsaturated fat and have high cholesterol. To prevent this, grapes and grape products should be consumed abundantly. Because it is known that phenolic substances, which are abundant in grapes and act as antioxidants, and anthocyanins, which are chemical compounds in the flavonoid group and provide color to the skin and must of colored grapes, and even to the flesh of some varieties, prevent platelets from concentrating and adhering to the walls of capillaries and do not allow these vessels to change. According to medical research, resveratrol, which has antioxidant and antimutagen properties, blocks cell changes leading to cancer formation and prevents the formation of unwanted tissues in the body. We can say that it is time to use resveratrol, which we can describe as the miracle of grapes, and it is even about to pass.
