Nutrition during the holidays

Is it right to consume roasted meat during the holiday? If it can be consumed, how much should it be? What should be taken into consideration?

THE THINGS TO BE CONSIDERED DURING THE FESTIVAL I COMPILED AND COLLECTED IN 10 ITEMS. YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY PAY ATTENTION TO THESE.

Meat and dessert consumption increases during Eid al-Adha. In order to have a healthy holiday, attention should be paid to the amount and frequency of consumption of red meat and desserts, and attention should be paid to portion control.

There are a few things to consider when it comes to meat consumption:

  • During Eid al-Adha, the day should start with a healthy, satisfying breakfast that includes all types of nutrients.

  • When roasting and frying, meat should not be exposed to heat for a long time. Carcinogenic elements may occur due to exposure. For this reason, among the cooking methods, grilling, baking and boiling methods should be preferred.

  • It is beneficial to consume offal in limited amounts. It would be better especially for patients with cardiovascular diseases and high cholesterol not to consume it.

  • There is no need to add tail fat and tallow when cooking meat, >It is enough to cook the meat in its own oil.

  • To avoid digestive problems, you should consume red meat for lunch or breakfast and have a lighter dinner

  • To eliminate the muscle contraction that occurs during the slaughter of the animal, called rigor mortis, and to prevent the meat from being hard when cooked, it must be rested for 24-48 hours before consuming.

    • Meat that has not been aged will be more difficult to digest.

  • Meat should be cut into small pieces, such as minced meat or cubes, rather than large pieces, and placed in a refrigerator bag in single-cooking quantities and stored in the deep freezer.

    • After thawing frozen meat, you should never freeze it again.

    •

    • Apart from these; Meat is rich in iron and zinc but does not contain vitamins C and E. Meat should be consumed with plenty of vegetables and salad.

    • Not only meat but also dessert consumption should be taken into consideration. Sherbet desserts, candies and chocolates suddenly increase blood sugar and should be avoided. Milk desserts, fruit desserts and ice cream should be preferred.

    • During the holiday, attention should be paid to fluid intake. Drinking tea and coffee does not meet fluid needs. Additionally, as always, physical activity should be given importance during the holidays. It will be beneficial to take a walk outdoors for 1 hour.
