The lumps that form in the breast are called Breast Tumors because the basic building blocks that make up the breast tissue, the genes that regulate the growth of the cells and keep them healthy, mutate over time and proliferate uncontrollably outside their natural processes.
These tumors fall under two separate main headings. are discussed:
-
Benign Tumors: Benign tumors that do not pose a danger to health are called Benign Tumors and they do not pose a risk of cancer. Their cells are apparently normal and grow slowly. They do not invade nearby tissues and do not spread to other parts of the body. There are many types of benign breast tumors. Some of these may cause discomfort or pain, so they need to be treated.
-
Malignant Tumors: Such tumors are cancerous, and if left uninvestigated, the malignant cells can spread to other parts of the body. Breast cancer develops as a result of a malignant tumor consisting of cells in the breast. Over time, cancer cells can spread to nearby healthy breast tissue and then to the lymph nodes. Cancer cells follow a path that spreads from the lymph nodes to other parts of the body. The stage of breast cancer indicates how far the cancer cells have progressed beyond the original tumor.

Breast cancer is caused by a genetic abnormality, but only 5-10% of these cancers are due to an inherited abnormality. . However, 85-90% of breast cancers are caused by genetic disorders that occur as a result of the aging process.
Many benign breast tumors mimic the symptoms of breast cancer, so some tests and sometimes a biopsy may be needed for diagnosis. Considering that early diagnosis is of vital importance in malignant breast tumors, it is very important for the person to learn breast self-examination from his physician, to examine himself at regular intervals, and to have the screening tests deemed necessary by the physician at regular intervals.
