Acne is a long-lasting and recurring inflammatory disease of the oil-producing glands. It usually starts in adolescence. However, it is not specific to adolescence.
It mostly occurs in oily areas of the skin such as the face, neck, back, chest and shoulders. It manifests itself with black spots on the skin, red pimples, sometimes deep cysts and nodules.
Four main factors are effective in its emergence:
1- Increased sebaceous gland secretion
2- Blockage of the hair canal (black and white spots)
3- Increase in the number of microbes in the sebaceous gland,
4- It is swelling, redness and inflammation.
In addition to this; Genetics, environmental factors, medications, stress, wrong skin care products and cosmetic make-up materials, climatic conditions, the person's working environment, diseases that cause hormonal disorders (e.g. polycystic ovary disease, thyroid gland diseases), ultraviolet rays can also affect acne formation.
Acne is not caused by the food we eat. Diet alone is not enough to control acne. However, if you have identified foods that increase your acne, these foods should be avoided.
When acne is left untreated, it heals by leaving a scar. Sometimes the appearance of these scars can affect a person's self-confidence and create insecurity. For these reasons, acne should be treated by dermatology specialists. In the treatment of acne, local and systemic medications recommended by the dermatologist are used. Dermocosmetic care products can also be added to the treatment. If necessary, some dermatological interventions can be applied during or after acne treatment (chemical peeling, laser, dermaroller, etc.)
