Heredity, that is, genetic factors, is also shown to be an important factor causing seasonal depression, apart from hormonal factors. It is explained that people with a history of seasonal depression in close relatives such as parents or grandparents have a higher rate of experiencing this type of depression, as in many other biological diseases. In a study, this rate was found to be 1 in 7.
The fact that chronic diseases hinder a person's life energy and quality of life creates a risk of seasonal depression when combined with changes in hormones in terms of being constantly intertwined with negative emotions such as anxiety and anger.
Another important factor is explained as some personality traits. It is thought that people who are introverted, try to please everyone, are reluctant to express their negative emotions such as anger, and cannot show their negative reactions because they think they will be offended or hurt, have difficulty coping with their negative emotions, which leads to depression.
