Corona, which has been on our agenda for a long time, has an impact on all of us. Issues such as the increasing number of deaths, economic inadequacy and unemployment concern us day by day. Normal level of anxiety is functional for us because anxiety is a motivating factor in our motivation, making decisions and carrying out these decisions. So why does the anxiety that should be in our lives threaten both our physical and mental health in this process? Because in the Corona period, we perceive the world as an unsafe place and the future as uncertain. Our shaken sense of security and our hopes for the future under threat cause our anxieties and concerns to increase. So, what are the methods that will help us cope with this situation that affects our anxiety and panic levels so much?
Especially easy access to information brought by our age may be a disadvantage for us in this period. Coronavirus messages coming to our phones and videos shared on areas such as Facebook and Instagram can create information pollution and increase our panic and anxiety. To keep this under control, we must follow the agenda once or twice from reliable sources. In order to keep the physical symptoms, especially shortness of breath, which is one of the most prominent features of panic and anxiety, under control, we can do breathing exercises and feel more calm and comfortable by walking in an area where we can be alone with nature. It will be good for us to stay in touch with our family or friends during the day and talk about topics other than corona, and to spare time for activities that interest us but that we cannot find time to do (such as painting, reading a book or learning a new language).
I would like to remind you that, as an individual, we are in a pandemic process and in a slowdown situation along with the world. We should know that this situation, like previous pandemics, is a temporary process and we must protect our mental health.
