Auditory Attention, Auditory Perception Training
Auditory attention, auditory perception training is the training given to people who cannot direct their attention to sound or speech. Even if these people are with the speaker, they cannot listen to them adequately, and even though they do not have any intelligence problems, they have difficulty understanding what they are listening to.
Why Does This Happen?
Because these people cannot listen enough. They pretend to listen or don't pay attention at all. For this reason, they constantly have communication problems, have problems showing their performance in education, have problems even using their native language, and have constant problems in fulfilling instructions.
Who experiences auditory attention problems? p>
a-First of all, individuals with hearing loss. Since auditory input is already weak, they have problems orienting towards, following and perceiving the sound. It is somewhat easier for them to live in their own way, in their own world. After all, everyone accepted them that way. Auditory attention and auditory perception training are among the main groups provided. However, in order to benefit from this training, they must be using devices such as hearing aids or cochlear implants.
b- Those who have speech problems. Auditory attention and auditory perception training provide extremely beneficial results in ensuring language and speech development in individuals who do not have any auditory problems but have language and speech problems.
c-Those who suffer from attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder. Since attention is the main problem for those who suffer from attention deficit, there are serious problems in paying attention to sounds, just like everything else. In the hyperactive group, excessive mobility makes it difficult and sometimes impossible to cooperate with a person or situation. In this group, auditory attention and auditory perception training gives extremely successful results.

How is auditory attention and auditory perception training given?
There is a computer developed for this purpose. There are r programs. BERARD Method, which is also used in our country, is the most well-known computer-based auditory attention and auditory perception training program. Many children and families report that they benefit from this method
There are publications that provide book-based auditory attention and auditory perception training. These types of books have been rapidly joining our education and rehabilitation lives lately. In both systems, the importance of the ear and hearing to the individual is emphasized.
