Walk-Talk Therapy

As the name suggests, they are walking therapy sessions. Walking and talking therapy helps people avoid feeling trapped in their lives or past, or feeling like they can no longer adapt to them. Being outside and talking about the problem makes them feel the sense of freedom again. Walking increases blood circulation in the brain and allows us to generate new ideas to solve our problems. It literally gives the experience of “moving forward” and makes it possible to move forward in our lives as well, “as we continue down the path, we create muscle memory of how we can move forward and leave anxiety/anxiety behind.”

It also adds energy to our lives, which are already spent all day indoors at home or in the office.

Usually the first session begins with agreeing on what to do when the weather is bad, most walking and speech therapists are not deterred by a few drops of rain, continues his therapy. However, how the client feels is also important. For this reason, in such a situation, the therapist recommends ending the session or completing the session indoors.

A short session example about this;

Therapist Jennifer Udler was in the middle of a session with her client when it started raining. But instead of being in her office, she and her young client were outside, walking and talking about anxiety and stress, getting soaked… But when they got back indoors, Udler said, “Hey, look at us!” We are good! We're a little wet, but oh well! We got this done! “Now we can remember this memory the next time we feel anxious before or during an event.” This kind of insight can sometimes be a key to the therapeutic process.
