On Drug Use
According to the World Health Organization, drugs are defined as “any substance, other than those taken for health reasons, that, when taken into a living organism, can alter one or more of the functions of the organism.” It creates a lifestyle that can negatively affect every aspect of human life.
There are many different types of drugs. While some have a stimulating effect, others calm the person with their serotonin-increasing effect, and there are also types that temporarily "numb" the person in moments when it becomes unbearable to deal with painful thoughts and emotions in the mind. They may have different names in clinical settings and different names on the street. The main types have names such as marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, heroin, volatile substances, hallucinogenic mushrooms, LSD, crack (stone), mecaline (cactus), Rohypnol (rosh).
Many thoughts and beliefs affect the treatment process in the process of quitting drugs. It is disruptive. There are some thinking errors that affect this. Chief among these are stereotypes such as "I can't get over it, I can't quit", "everyone drinks", "nothing will happen to me", "I can control it", nothing will happen once", "I am not addicted".
Drugs. To treat addiction, there is a process called detoxification in which the person first quits drugs completely. Since withdrawal syndromes are especially prevalent after heavy drugs such as heroin, it seems to be a priority for the person to start drug treatment. In addition to drug treatment, psychological help must be sought in order to prevent the damage caused by negative life events that lead to drug use in the person's mental and emotional world. An individual who does not go through medication and psychotherapy processes and does not get help from experts in the process of quitting drugs is extremely likely to start using drugs again.
There are many awareness that addiction treatment brings to the person. This treatment; It is necessary for the person to know, understand and evaluate himself/herself, to put himself/herself into a psycho-educational process regarding the changes caused by the current drug in the person, and to develop the necessary cognitive skills to prevent return to the substance. Having good and emotional equipment enables him to gain awareness that emotional processes lead him to use substances. Addiction treatment is difficult, but it is not impossible to get positive results. If you suffer from this problem or if there is someone around you who has such a problem, do not hesitate to get help from psychiatrists and psychologists who are experts on the subject. There is always hope for a happier tomorrow.
