WHAT IS HEALTH?
'Health' is the state of the body not being sick (Turkish Language Association). According to the definition of the World Health Organization, which has not changed since 1948, 'health' is not only protection from diseases and microbes, but also a state of physical, mental and social well-being as a whole.
WHY IS WOMEN'S HEALTH IMPORTANT ?
The health of our women, who constitute half of our country's population, and the mother, who is the most important member of the family, is important not only for herself, but also for the health of her unborn children. Women's health should not be considered separately from family health and indirectly from public health, because a healthy woman; It means a healthy pregnancy, a healthy child and a healthy society.
WHAT IS THE SCOPE OF WOMEN'S HEALTH?
Life is a process and the individual is in constant physical and emotional development. It is necessary to examine life by dividing it into certain periods because each period shows different characteristics.
Women's health is affected by social and political processes as well as biological factors. Ataturk says, "It is necessary to believe that everything we see in the world is the work of women," and then adds, "The reason why our society is not successful is due to the negligence and fault we show towards our women" (1923). What we can do as individuals starts with increasing our awareness about our health.
Women's life can be examined in certain periods, although it does not have clear boundaries:
1. Puberty (Adolescent): 13-18 years
2. Sexual Adolescence (Reproductive age): 19-45 years
3. Maturity period (Climacterium and Menopause): 46-64 years
4. Old age: Over 64 years of age
