Pregnant Yoga and Its Benefits

When you enter the theater at the premiere of a play you have never heard of, you learn that you are in the leading role, and all you have in your hand is a piece of paper that was ignited just before going on stage. Think about it! Your legs are shaking with excitement, you look at the paper, it means something, but there is a big emptiness in your eyes... Then suddenly your instincts take over. You read and combine what you remember with your motivations, and add comments from the audience, as if someone else is playing on stage, not you. You stare from afar in amazement at its transformation... Pregnancy is the harbinger of a physical, mental and emotional change, a great transformation, from the moment you first learn about it. We can say that one of the biggest supports in this transformation is "pregnancy yoga". Yoga generally means "unity", that is, the unity of body, mind and soul. As a mother and instructor who spent her pregnancy doing yoga; I am of the opinion that yoga provides the greatest support to the mother by providing the unity of body, soul and mind in this great transformation we mentioned during the pregnancy process.

The difference between the person who finds herself on the stage without knowing what to play is that the mother leaves 40 weeks behind before going on stage. During this period, the mother combines what she can get for herself with her motivations. Yoga has a great contribution to this combination.

What do we do in classes;

-Asana-Physical movement -Pranayama

-Breathing - Mudra / Mantra

-Meditation and relaxation

The body becomes physically stronger with the movements, that is, the "asanas" performed in the pregnancy yoga class. By accelerating the blood flow to the baby, it helps the baby to feed better. Asanas help the body adapt to the changing center of gravity in this process and alleviate the pain caused by this process. It prevents posture disorders by aligning the spine.

Breathing exercises compatible with the asanas performed throughout the course ensure that both the mother and the baby receive better oxygen. Breathing exercises bring the expectant mother's attention to her breathing and deepen relaxation with natural, deep and slow breathing. Thus, it increases life energy.

Meditation, like breathing, spreads to all lessons. Meditation is the best way to relieve fears and anxieties during pregnancy. The difference that increases with meditation Mindfulness will positively affect the mother's communication with her baby from the first moment, and will support her to act by feeling in her heart what will or will not be good for her.

Pelvic floor exercises are also performed in the classes. The muscles exercised and strengthened by these exercises support the awareness of birth. With taught and repeated exercises, the mother recovers quickly from the postpartum period and sees the benefits of this exercise in later ages.

In the lessons, we try to establish a bond with the baby through imagery, vocal songs and mantras. At the same time, sharing and making good friends with other pregnant women who attend the classes can also be considered one of the benefits of the classes.
