What is the role of injection in trigger point treatment?
The most common syndrome originating from nodes is myofascial pain syndrome. Myofascial pain is pain caused by trauma, repetitive muscle activities, and poor posture. It is often seen in the neck region and the pain is accompanied by muscle contraction. These pains; massage, ice application and stretching exercises, and sometimes trigger point injections into the superficial muscles.
There are a significant number of trigger points, especially on the nape, neck and scapula. Pain due to trigger points can be very severe from time to time. Trigger point injection is done by carefully injecting low-dose local anesthetic into the trigger point. Trigger point injection is not painful and can be repeated at regular intervals. Its basic philosophy is to weaken the trigger point where muscle spasm originates.
