75% of the human body consists of water. If losses during sweating, burns, drinking less water, diarrhea, vomiting, exercise, and breathing exceed the amount of fluid we take in, serious thirst (dehydration) may occur. This condition can reach much more serious levels in summer.

Feeling of thirst, dry mouth, dark urine, decreased tears and feeling of dryness in the eyes, decreased sweating, muscle cramps, nausea, dizziness and vomiting in the later stages. Tinnitus, palpitations, low blood pressure, feeling short of breath, and dizziness when standing up are the first symptoms. In advanced dehydration, fainting, coma and organ failure may occur.

The drinks needed to correct the problem may be hot or cold. The best summer drinks are herbal teas, ayran, mineral waters, water with chopped fruit.

Alcohol and caffeinated drinks can increase fluid needs. You should be careful.
