Obesity; It is expressed as excessive body fat and is considered the biggest health problem of today's societies. The World Health Organization defines obesity as having a Body Mass Index of 30 or above.

Obesity can cause a person to be in distress both physically, spiritually and socially. It negatively affects the general body health of the person, causes negative body image and causes limitations in performing daily life activities. Therefore, solving the obesity problem will affect the person positively in every sense.

Obesity; It has negative effects on many systems such as respiratory, circulatory, digestive and musculoskeletal systems.

OBESITY AND MUSCULAR-SKELETAL SYSTEM

Excess weight means damage to bones. and means more load on the muscles. Therefore, although there are various causes of musculoskeletal system diseases, the main reason is known as obesity. Movement becomes difficult with obesity. As movement becomes more difficult, mobility decreases day by day. Reduced movement makes the cardiovascular system and breathing difficult, causing muscles and bones to weaken further. This situation reduces existing mobility day by day, disrupts body mechanics, and the effects continue to increase over time. However, as it is known, it is possible to prevent this situation with exercise.

EXERCISE

Exercise practices are what we, as physiotherapists, recommend to our clients in our treatments. It is our greatest helper. As part of our profession and our expertise in this field, adopting a lifestyle intertwined with exercise, instilling this lifestyle in our clients and finding solutions to their problems with exercise is an approach that is important to us as physiotherapists. For this reason, exercise practices are given importance in obesity.

The most basic exercise in obesity is walking. Walking accelerates a person's blood circulation and increases calorie burning. Thus, the weight loss process begins. Of course, as it is known, exercise practices should be continued in combination with balanced and correct eating habits. walk With various exercise combinations along with work, weight loss is accelerated and the person's impaired body mechanics are returned to normal.
