Social phobia is a disorder studied by many therapy systems. However, I would like to talk to you about 2 therapy methods that have proven to be effective. The first one is cognitive behavioral therapy and the second one is schema therapy which is an improved and expanded form which is also influenced by other therapy schools. In the treatment program of cognitive behavioral therapy; psychoeducation, skills training (social skills, cognitive restructuring, problem solving) and behavioral exposure methods. The schema therapy method, on the other hand, makes use of cognitive behavioral techniques. te works with root schemas that are causing the problem. Cognitive, behavioral and emotional methods are used in the study with schemas. It has been found that schemas of defectiveness, social isolation and failure are more effective at the root of social phobia. And because of this, they feel intense shame. This feeling is a pretty familiar one that has been with him from the past. It shows up immediately when they need to show any skill in a social environment.

One of the biggest concerns of these individuals, who think that they are socially incompetent, incompetent, even repulsive, is that people think that they will not want to meet with them for such reasons. The belief that people will not love them causes them to be upset. These individuals with low self-confidence show behaviors such as escaping from social environments or taking precautions. He has an extreme fear of what he thinks about himself. The person who perceives extreme fear as excitement in his body is afraid that it will be perceived by others. His hands start to tremble and what he actually fears happens to him. This is called 'self-fulfilling prophecy' in psychology. Social phobia is a disorder that can be treated with psychotherapy.
