There are some specific procedures that we perform for aesthetic and functional problems of the gums. These treatments:
Gum Rearrangements (Gingivectomy/Gingivoplasty)
Gingivectomy is the surgical removal of gum tissue. Gingivoplasty is the shaping of healthy gum tissues around the teeth. Gums may be congenitally deformed or irregular. Gums may cover the teeth more than they should or be thicker than they should be. These situations prevent the teeth from standing out and cause aesthetic problems. These situations can be corrected by removing or reshaping excess gum.
Flap Operation
Flap operation is a surgery performed on the gums under local anesthesia. With the flap operation, deep pockets (depths) that patients have difficulty in reaching are eliminated and granulation (harmful tissues) tissues are cleaned. Flap operation is performed when patients still have gingivitis and deep pockets after tooth surface cleaning (detertraj) and root surface flattening (subgingival curettage) procedures performed in the clinic. The gums are opened with a surgical operation to access the tooth roots and inflamed bone, the diseased gums and root surfaces are cleaned, and healing is achieved by adding a graft (bone powder) + membrane (covering) to re-create bone in areas with bone loss.
Free Tooth. Gum Application
Free gingival graft (SDG) is a surgical procedure performed to create gingiva or increase the amount of gum the individual has. In tooth areas with gingival recession, the goal is to gain gum tissue (graft) taken from the palate. This operation is an option to cover the exposed root surface of the tooth, but the main purpose is to obtain the gingival structure that supports the teeth in a very important way, which we call adequately attached gingiva. The part of the gum, which we call attached gingiva, is very important in maintaining gingival health.
Connective Tissue Application
Connective tissue in the area of gingival recession where we cannot close the recession with a free gingival graft. operation is carried out. With this process, both the functions of the teeth are restored. It is strengthened and its aesthetic appearance is ensured. As in the free gingival graft, tissue taken from the palate is used. It is not always possible to provide complete closure in areas with gingival recession with free gingival graft, but it is possible to cover the recession with connective tissue under appropriate conditions.
