AUTOPLASTY
The ear is an organ that affects the external appearance of a person and has aesthetic and functional importance. Many different deformities can be seen in the ear, including congenital underdevelopment. The most common is the deformity popularly called 'protruding ear' or 'flail ear'. Protruding ears are the biggest nightmare of school-age children. Because they become a laughing stock for their friends at school, and this seriously negatively affects their school success and social relationships. They experience adaptation problems at school. Protruding ears are a deformity that is congenital and develops in families.
Since the ears complete 85-90% of their development at the age of 4-5, ear aesthetics can generally be performed at any age, starting from the age of 5. Depending on personal circumstances and the family's preference, surgery can be performed in later years, but pre-school surgery should be preferred as it eliminates the possibility of being ridiculed by the child's friends because of his ears. Children can be operated on in a fully equipped hospital under general anesthesia, and adults can be operated on under both general and local anesthesia. The surgery takes approximately 1-1.5 hours. The surgery is performed on the back of the auricle, the fold lines where the ear cartilages should be are weakened and shaped with permanent internal stitches, and the auricle is hung backwards. The skin on the back of the ear is closed with hidden stitches, there are no stitches on the skin surface. The most important rule when performing this procedure is not to spoil the natural appearance of the ear. You can return home the day of your surgery. The ear remains bandaged for 2-3 days. You can take a shower after removing the bandage. After the surgery, there may be edema (swelling) and bruising in the ear, which will return to normal within 1-2 weeks. A soft bandage similar to a sports band can be used on the head in the evenings for 2-3 weeks. Children can return to school after a week, provided they are careful while playing. Most adults can return to work after 3-4 days. With plastic surgery performed on the ear, a striking improvement is achieved not only in ear deformities, but also in the psychological state of the person. You will no longer have to cover your ears with your hair. z.
