Covid-19 and Vitamin D

In this period when the number of Covid-19 cases affecting the whole world is increasing day by day, we need foods and food supplements that will support our immunity more than ever.

I would like to tell you about a very new study on this subject;

Two studies conducted in the USA and Spain found a strong connection between coronavirus cases and vitamin D deficiency. 76 coronavirus patients participated in the study conducted at ReinaSofia University Hospital. 50 of these patients were given vitamin D. Half of the patients who were not given vitamin D were taken to intensive care after a while due to severe symptoms. On the other hand, only 1 patient who received vitamin D supplements was admitted to intensive care. In conclusion; It has been discovered that preventing vitamin D deficiency can reduce deaths caused by Covid-19 by half, and also that vitamin D reduces the need for intensive care by 25 times.

So which foods contain vitamin D?

Vitamin D; It is found in fish, especially tuna, milk, eggs, grain foods, and mushrooms.

Again, cheese, butter, yoghurt, and kefir are foods containing vitamin D.

Vitamin D obtained through nutrition is sensitive to sunlight. When exposed, it is activated in the liver and kidneys and shows its effect in its active form. Vitamin D deficiency may increase as quarantine practices reduce sunlight intake. That's why we need sunbathing, a healthy and balanced diet, and taking vitamin D supplements.

I wish you healthy sunny days.
