The subconscious is generally known as the place where there are things that remain below our consciousness and that we do not remember. A building is considered as consciousness and its foundation as the subconscious. However, this description and definition are not correct. Because our subconscious is much bigger than we imagine. Only things that we can remember now exist in our consciousness; In our subconscious, we have emotions, thoughts, behaviors, memories, etc. from pre-birth until now. Everything is kept, including If we think of our consciousness as the world we live on, our subconscious is the entire universe. The size difference between them is so big. Based on this, we can say that the concept of subconscious is not correct. Just as we cannot say that space, that is, the entire universe, is below our world, our subconscious is not below our consciousness. For this reason, the concept of unconscious, which means everything that remains outside of consciousness, is more accurate than the concept of subconscious.
So what exactly does our unconscious do? Why are our feelings and thoughts kept in the unconscious instead of remembering them directly? Our unconscious is an archive for us. Even though we are not aware of it, all the people we see on the road during the day, all the thoughts that come to our mind, our childhood of which we remember only a small part, etc. takes place in the unconscious. There are also feelings and thoughts that are not accepted by society and that we ourselves will not accept. Having these in our consciousness instead of unconsciously has a devastating effect on our social relationships. It would be extremely scary to remember all the details of a situation in our past, that is, to have them in our consciousness instead of unconsciously. For example, you remembered a time many years ago when you lost a family member. If it were not for the unconscious, you would relive all the emotions in that process and experience a mourning period again for the longest time. This situation would be repeated in many stages of your life and would cause you to be unable to tolerate even the slightest negative emotion.
When evaluated in the light of this information, it can be said that our entire life takes place in our unconscious; Our consciousness contains mostly the information we need.
