Stress and Headaches in Business Life

Stress in business life is a common problem for most people, especially those working in the office. Another common problem in these people is headache. Therefore, when a person working in a stressful and busy work environment experiences a headache, he immediately finds the culprit he is looking for: work intensity and stress!

However, the cause of headaches may not always be work intensity and stress. Cerebellar prolapse was detected in the examination of one of our patients whose chronic headaches were attributed to work stress. The headache improved after the operation. Another patient, who attributed his chronic headache to work intensity and stress, was diagnosed with migraine and his treatment was arranged, and his headache resolved even though his work intensity continued.

The cause of the headache may be stress, but the cause of stress may not be work life. In the psychiatric examination of a patient who was almost certain that his headache was due to work stress and was considering a job change, it was determined that the source of stress was his family life, not his job. After receiving the necessary treatments, his stress and headache improved and he did not change his job.

The cause of the headache may be work, but it may be the sitting position at work, not the stress or intensity of the job. For example, in professions such as banking, accounting, graphic design, where you work at a desk, or in professions such as technicians and textiles, where you work with your head and neck bent, spasm in the neck muscles and the resulting tension headache may occur due to the sitting position. However, it is not the 'nerves' that are stretched, but the muscles. Sometimes there may be just a headache without neck pain. When these patients receive appropriate treatment and sit in the correct position while working, their complaints improve.

As can be seen, there may be many causes of headache.
