Thanks to the 21-gene test, which is a genetic screening test for breast cancer, one can have an idea about the course of the disease. The purpose of this test is not to expose low-risk patients to the side effects of chemotherapy.
According to the tumor biology, it can be recommended to patients whose hormone receptors are positive, do not spread to the armpit, and are HER2 negative. This test, in which 16 cancer-specific gene analyzes in the tumor tissue and 5 reference gene analyzes are evaluated together, reveals the possibility of recurrence of the patient. Chemotherapy may not be given to patients whose test result is low risk. In patients with high levels, it would be appropriate to give chemotherapy in order not to put the patient at risk.
