Pregnancy is a period when personal care should be a little more important and a little more sensitive. Pregnancy is not a period in which a woman will give up all her beauty and care. On the contrary, it should be a period in which many women take more care of themselves and feel beautiful and confident. Liv Hospital Gynecology and Obstetrics Specialist Op. Dr. Tamer Sözen explained.
Be careful with care products
Unfortunately, the humid environment created by sweat during pregnancy is a very suitable environment for bacteria and fungi to live. Bacteria and fungi can also cause diseases and bad odors. Therefore, taking frequent showers will be very useful for removing sweat and thus preventing the development of bacteria and fungi, as well as balancing body temperature. But when it comes to care products we use for our body, we should choose those that contain the least amount of chemicals. Of course, excess of everything is harmful, and if the protective layer of the skin is removed by excessive washing, we can cause bacteria and fungi to penetrate the skin. The same harmful effect can be caused by using soaps or shower gels with very alkaline pH.
It is important to moisturize the skin
Just as the skin always needs moisture, during pregnancy It is also very important to moisturize. At this point, vegetable oils can be used. Cocoa butter is the most well-known, and some blended oils are also very useful at this point.
Moisturize the body
The body should be moisturized throughout the entire pregnancy, but after the 20th week, moisturizers alone will not be sufficient to prevent possible stretch marks. Although genetics, that is, the person's collagen type, is the most important factor in the formation of stretch marks, creams and oils developed especially for stretch marks are of great benefit. These creams and oils, of course, contain natural extracts and chemicals that do not pose any risk to the expectant mother and the developing baby. It is now recommended not to use bitter almond milk, which was widely used in the past and is known and used by almost everyone, due to information that it causes premature birth when used for a long time.
Prefer natural products
Inner hair n Natural products and care cures can be applied whenever possible. With its relatively large absorption surface, the scalp also poses a serious risk for toxic products to enter the bloodstream. There is no concrete evidence in the research that hair dyes applied during pregnancy and breastfeeding cause any congenital disabilities on the baby. However, to be cautious, it may be better to leave hair dyeing until after the third month. Some of the chemicals found in hair dye are extremely harmful while pregnant. If you still decide to dye your hair, do not do this in the first 3 months of pregnancy. After the 4th month of pregnancy, choose organic, natural, chemical-free pure herbal dyes. If you have to have it painted, leave it until after the 4th month. Choose natural, chemical-free herbal dyes. Rinse your hair roots thoroughly after hair dyeing. Do not choose dyes that contain ammonia.
Keep the skin moist to prevent cracks
Stretch marks appear in 90 percent of pregnant women after the 6th-7th month. . It is also thought that genetic transmission may play a role in the fact that it is seen more frequently in those whose mothers had pregnancy stretch marks. Unfortunately, there is no magic cream or formulation that can completely prevent these stretch marks. It is important to keep the skin well moisturized at all times with creams and lotions and adequate fluid intake. Therefore, it will be beneficial for pregnant women to seriously increase their fluid intake, especially in the second half of pregnancy. Although most pregnancy stretch marks fade over time after the baby is born, some of them fade more slowly and may leave a dark color during this period. The ideal time to treat these stretch marks is when the stretch marks are most actively red. There is evidence that gels with hyaluronic acid may be beneficial after 12 weeks of use. Sometimes, retinoids, which can be used with the recommendation of a dermatologist, can be beneficial by affecting the production and cycle of new collagen. In more difficult and stubborn patients, laser and dermaabrasion treatments can also be applied by dermatologists, which may have a beneficial effect on collagen and blood vessels.
