The biggest reason for the habit of teeth grinding that occurs at night or during the day is stress and is seen in a large part of the society today.
Most patients are generally unaware of this habit and do not notice it. In our patients with teeth grinding disorder, jaw pain, joint pain and toothache occur due to overwork of the muscles in the back of the jaw.
When not treated early, it creates serious problems, causes wear on the teeth and causes joint problems and chronic jaw pain. It gives.
Two methods are used in its treatment. Patients who grind their teeth while sleeping at night are treated with a night plate. However, if teeth clenching occurs during the day, botox is recommended.
With botox, injection is made on both sides of the jaw and the patient's teeth clenching muscles are temporarily disabled for 6 months. The patient's ability to close his teeth, eat, speak and swallow is not affected in any way, he just cannot clench his teeth strongly.
Some patients cannot clench their teeth strongly for 6 months after botox, so they lose this habit after the effect of botox wears off. In some patients, botox must be repeated several times.
Do wisdom teeth have to be extracted?
Wisdom teeth are our molars that complete their development between the ages of 17-30 and try to take their place in the mouth.

Depending on the jaw structure, wisdom teeth, which sometimes find a place in the mouth without any problems, may remain buried in the jawbone when they cannot find a place, or may come out semi-buried by compressing other teeth.
In cases where they remain impacted, they may reach the lower jaw nerve. or it can be left in the mouth if it does not put pressure on other teeth and does not cause any problems.
It is recommended to remove semi-buried wisdom teeth (if a part of the tooth is visible in the mouth), these teeth form a bridge between the oral environment and the jawbone and prevent nutrient accumulation. It is a source of infection because it cannot be cleaned.
Wisdom teeth that have emerged completely and smoothly in the mouth can be left in the mouth without being pulled out if they do not compress other teeth and if there is a tooth in return. Since it is located at the very back of the jaw, it is more difficult to clean and brush than other teeth and it is easier to decay.
