If our skin feels threatened due to excessive pressure and friction in any area, it thickens the skin layer on it to prevent irritation in that area, forming a callus and trying to protect the skin from external influences as much as possible. In other words, we can define callus as the protection of our skin against external influences.

Calls are usually caused by shoes that do not fit our feet or that hit our feet. Improper shoes are not the only reason for callus formation. Sometimes, foot deformities cause us to press our feet incorrectly, and as a result, calluses form on our feet. Since the bottom part of the dead skin layer is in active contact with nerve endings, it sometimes makes people feel unbearable pain. In addition, calluses form on feet that sweat excessively, walk long distances, stand on their feet all the time, and are deprived of air.

Calls are not normally a serious health problem, and if they do not cause pain, they do not need to be treated. However, when it starts to cause pain, the best solution is to stop the pressure on the callus and soften the callus. Problematic calluses that have grown and started to cause discomfort can be removed, but if the pressure or friction element that causes the callus is not eliminated, for example, if you continue to wear the same shoes that cause the callus, the callus will recur.
