Breast Lift Surgery

BREAST LIFT

Breast lift surgery is an aesthetic breast operation also known as mastopexy or breast lift surgery.

BREAST AESTHETICS AND BREAST LIFT SURGERY

Look at your breasts in the mirror. If your nipples are above your breast fold line, everything is fine. If it is down to this line, it can be said that you have mild breast sagging; if it is below this line, it can be said that you have severe breast sagging. This indicates that one day you may need breast lift surgery (you can also use the names mastopexy or breast lift surgery). Especially the nipples pointing straight down show the severity of the situation.

AESTHETIC BREAST: WHY DO BREASTS SAGGY?

There may be many reasons for this. Breast tissue decreases due to hormonal reasons related to aging. This causes the breast to become empty and saggy. The breasts of breastfeeding mothers are also more prone to sagging. When the breasts are full of milk, they enlarge and are emptied through breastfeeding. When this is repeated many times, the breasts naturally sag. Additionally, gravity pulls the breasts downward, causing them to sag. In some cases, sagging begins at a very early age and is caused entirely by the congenital weakness of the ligaments that support the breast.

SURGERY: CUTTING AND SCARS:

Breast lift surgery. In fact, it is an operation that gives very good results if done well. Of course, it is possible to reshape the breast, completely remove the sagging, and enlarge or reduce the breast at the same time.
But the cost of all this is the scars left on the breast. There is no surgical technique yet known that can lift the breast without leaving a scar.
The techniques used leave a scar extending all around the nipple where it meets the skin and under the breast. In classical techniques, this scar continues under the breast and continues in the fold line below.
In newer techniques, this lower scar is not made.
Generally, we can accept that the sagging the breast, the longer the scars left will be.

What is the difference between breast lift and breast reduction surgeries?

Basically, the only difference is that in one of them, the breast tissue is removed and the In other cases, reducing the size is just removing the sagging. Technically, both surgeries are very close to each other.

WHO SHOULD HAVE THIS SURGERY:

In fact, the surgery performed is an aesthetic problem (sagging) < It can be seen as converting /strong>from one to another. Therefore, this surgery may not be suitable for everyone. If the sagging of your breasts is moderate or if you think you will be seriously disturbed by the scars, do not have this surgery. But if you have seriously sagging breasts and you think nothing can be worse than this, this surgery is suitable for you. At the end of the surgery, you will have firm and shaped breasts of the size you want.
How uncomfortable you will be with the scars is also a very personal matter. My observation is that my patients with saggy breasts do not worry about these scars as much as I expected. Since I performed this surgery very selectively, I have never had a patient say that they are very unhappy with my scars. But it should not be forgotten that this surgery leaves more scars than other surgeries, and how noticeable these scars will be will be related to the recovery factors of the patient.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

It is difficult to say yes to this question, but if certain techniques are used, you can most likely breastfeed normally. What is important for breastfeeding is that the nipple, milk ducts and mammary glands are not touched during the surgery. So, if you lift the nipple off the floor and move it up (there are such techniques, for example)
, there will be a high probability that you will not be able to breastfeed. However, if the technique known as “central pedicule”is used, the nipple, ducts and glands are kept as a single piece and there will be no problem with your breastfeeding.

Can breast prostheses correct breast sagging? ?

Unfortunately, it usually doesn't fix it. In relatively rare cases, it can fill the breast tissue and keep the nipple, which is already at the level of the lower breast line, slightly higher. Remember that the only purpose of breast prostheses is to enlarge the breast.

Is it possible to lift the breast without a scar?

Unfortunately, this is not possible either. Take the nipple from below and lift it up with all the breast tissue. When you get over your breasts and tidy up your breasts, you inevitably have to leave scars.

How much do scars bother me?

It's hard to say, but if you are generally happy with your breasts. and if you just want them to be a little steeper it can be very uncomfortable. Remember, this surgery is for truly sagging breasts and only these patients can be satisfied after this surgery.

COMLICATIONS AND POSSIBLE PROBLEMS

This is one of the main problems you may encounter after the surgery. As with any surgery, there is bleeding and infection. There is almost no possibility of serious bleeding in this type of surgery. Bleeding may occur in the form of a "hematoma", an accumulation of blood on one side of the breast. Your doctor may want to take you back to the operating room to clean this accumulation and stop the bleeding, if it continues..;
Likewise, a unilateral swelling around the fifth day after the surgery may be a sign of infection. Again, the solution will be cleaning the infection and of course antibiotic treatment.
Skin loss, although rare, is among the complications that can be seen. It usually occurs in patients who smoke after surgery. The skin becomes black and hard and may need to be dressed for a long time. One way to shorten this time is to remove dead skin with a small intervention. The same skin problem can also be seen on the nipple. After a period of dressing, such problems usually heal better than expected. Don't start smoking just because you think nothing will happen. Remember that the first two weeks after surgery are critical.
Wound healing problems are generally caused by the thick stitches used in surgery. They will heal after a few days of dressing.
Aesthetic problems: Asymmetry is among the problems that may be encountered after this surgery. In severe asymmetries, a retouching surgery may be required. Of course, there is always the possibility that you may not like your breast shape at all as a result of this surgery. In this case, you have the chance of a second surgery. It is generally easy to correct asymmetries. The most difficult deformities to correct are those in which the nipple is lifted too high. While it is easy to lift the breasts surgically, it is much more difficult to make them sag. r.
