One of the most asked questions in the summer. While 2/3 of sunlight reaches our Earth, 5% of this amount is UV energy. Of course, we need sunlight for life. However, we should not forget that it has both benefits and harms. So, how can we protect ourselves from the harmful effects of the Sun? I can hear most of you answering this question as "Yes, I use sunscreen." But; Sun protection doesn't just mean using sunscreen. Sun protection requires three basic conditions:
Choosing the right behavior
Choosing the right clothing
and the use of sunscreen.
How should we protect ourselves from the sun?
Choosing the right behavior: UV energy from the sun between 10-15.00 Avoid going out especially during these hours as it is busy. It should not be forgotten that since the sea and sand reflect UV, exposure to the Sun will be greater in these regions.
Choosing the right clothing: Wearing thick fiber, not wet, tightly woven, synthetic clothes. Wearing sunglasses and a 10 cm wide-brimmed hat. But; UV-absorbing clothing does not lose its protective properties when wet. To admit, unfortunately, most of our summer clothes have low UV protection.
And using sun protection cream: Wear min SPF 15-30 products that have both UV A and UV B protective effects. Use 30 minutes before going out, repeat at 2 hour intervals.

While physical sunscreens have a more intense consistency and protect by reflecting UV energy; Chemical sunscreens have a thinner consistency and have a protective effect by absorbing UV energy.

We recommend that children pay attention to choosing the right clothes and use physical sunscreen for those over 6 months old.
