One of the sentences we often encounter in daily life is actually “I have a lack of self-confidence”. Even though it is a sentence we often hear from people here, do we really know what self-confidence is? Or is it a diagnosis we make ourselves? When we stop and think about what self-confidence is, we can see that most people have difficulty answering. The word self-confidence is a word that is frequently used in daily life without any meaning, but is expressed only as a sentence that many people have difficulty in defining.
What is self-confidence? If we summarize the answer to the problem; It is a person's self-confidence, recognition, belief, knowing who he is, what he likes, and finding the courage to act according to his philosophy of life within the framework of self-respect.
At the same time, self-confidence is knowing one's own strengths and weaknesses and being able to manage them. It is a source of inspiration that gives people strength, increases their energy, and encourages them to make more efforts in the difficult hustle and bustle of life. A person who has self-confidence can manage his own life, work, relationships, and the decisions he will make or make. Otherwise, he does not even realize that others are starting to manage his life.
Of course, when we talk about self-confidence, we sometimes encounter people around us who we call over-confident. So, are these people really overconfident? Or are they people trying to present themselves this way? When we look at these people, we can see them as people who believe that they can do everything blindly, that they can do anything, and who try to live with pride in their surroundings. These people are not self-confident, they are narcissistic. So, what do we call narcissist? When a narcissist is mentioned, the first thing that comes to mind is feelings of worthlessness and inadequacy. People who grew up lacking these two emotions are not interested in rules, have a weak sense of shame, have a cynical and harsh stance, and see themselves as special. Since our topic is not narcissism, I will move on to self-confidence without further ado. So what is the required level? Rather than thinking about the level it should be at and squeezing it into a mold, we can ask ourselves the following questions. Inability to perform any job or responsibility Do I give an excuse? Do I step aside in situations where I cannot do it at once or when I encounter failure, saying that it is the end of the world?
Self-confidence allows us to know and analyze ourselves. Therefore, if you say you want to improve your self-confidence. This should start with knowing yourself and knowing yourself. Just like Plato said, "To know yourself is to know your soul." First, one must know oneself.
