Assoc. Dr. Nergiz Hüseyinoğlu said that city life triggers forgetfulness.

Assoc. Prof. defines forgetfulness as the process of disappearance of information in the memory. Dr. Nergiz Hüseyinoğlu emphasized that not every forgetfulness is a disease. Assoc. Dr. Nergiz Hüseyinoğlu stated that in order to define forgetfulness as a disease, a number of findings must be observed, and that data on its frequency and severity are decisive. Assoc. Prof. noted that blood tests and imaging techniques such as MRI or tomography are needed to determine whether forgetfulness is at the disease level. Dr. Nergiz Hüseyinoğlu: "If daily activities are forgotten, if tasks that were easily remembered before are forgotten, if forgetfulness is at a level that affects the person's social and family life, this should be viewed as a disease and a neurologist should be consulted." He said.

Stress is also an effective factor

In addition to the underlying causes such as age-related Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, factors such as stress at earlier ages, environmental conditions and lifestyle can cause forgetfulness. Assoc. Dr. Hüseyin Nergizoğlu stated that city life is a significant trigger of forgetfulness. “In the city, people are more exposed to environmental harmful factors. Forgetfulness is more common in city people because they are exposed to more mental and physical activity and stress.” said Assoc. Dr. Nergiz Hüseyinoğlu listed other causes of forgetfulness as follows:

“Factors such as stress, failure to eat regularly and staying away from a healthy life, alcohol and cigarette consumption, vitamin deficiency may also be the cause of forgetfulness. It is said that computer and phone use may increase forgetfulness, but we cannot say that there is clear medical evidence for this.”

Forgetfulness is more common in women. Assoc. Prof. noted that forgetfulness may be more common in women because depression is common. Dr. Nergiz Hüseyinoğlu made the following suggestions regarding the precautions that can be taken against forgetfulness:

“In order to prevent forgetfulness, one should not sleep less than 7-8 hours a day on average. Alcohol and cigarettes should also be avoided because they increase cerebral arteriosclerosis and cause forgetfulness. he knows. Regular nutrition and adequate vitamin intake are required. Especially magnesium and selenium are vitamins that help protect brain health. Selenium is found in eggs, and magnesium is found in almost every food in nature, but if it is found to be deficient in a blood test, it can be recommended as a tablet. Apart from these, activities such as reading books, solving puzzles, playing chess should be done to keep the brain fit.”
