In our hospital, circumcision in newborn babies should be performed in the operating room environment, as in older children. Newborn circumcision is performed under local anesthesia while the baby is awake. An hour must have passed since the baby's last feeding. An hour before the procedure, a numbing cream is applied around the penis. After the one-hour period is completed, the baby is taken to the operating room accompanied by the nurse and mother/father and handed over to the circumcision team. Before circumcision, local anesthetic is injected around the penis with a very thin needle and waited for a few minutes for the anesthesia effect. Then, the circumcision area is cleaned with antiseptic and disinfectant solutions and covered with a sterile cover. After ensuring sufficient numbness, circumcision is performed using special techniques. It is an easy procedure that is generally painless, stitch-free and has almost no bleeding. After the circumcision process is completed, the circumcision area is wrapped with a transparent dressing material and the circumcision process is completed. Diapers with normal baby diapers. Immediately after the circumcision, the baby is given to its mother, taken to the ward under the accompaniment of a nurse, and breastfed by the mother. The baby is evaluated by the doctor again in the ward and is sent home if there is no obstacle to going home.

It is important for the mother to breastfeed frequently, and breastfeeding comforts the baby with every cry. If there is a lot of pain and discomfort, there is no harm in using painkillers. After the sterile transparent bandage wrapped around the circumcision area falls off, the recommended ointment is applied to the circumcision area. The baby is given a bath on the third day after circumcision. In the bath, the circumcision bandage falls off and after that, the ointment is applied to the circumcision at every diaper change for three days. It is applied to the flesh area. If the circumcision area becomes dirty with the baby's feces, it is washed with warm water, ointment is applied and clothed. It is necessary to pay attention to general cleanliness and hygiene in babies after circumcision, as in every child.

Newborn circumcision is an extremely safe and healthy procedure when performed in appropriate centers and by specialist physicians. In general, the complication rate after circumcision is 1-2%, and when performed by specialist doctors, this rate is much lower. The complication rate after neonatal circumcision has been reported to be lower (0.2%-0.4%) and are generally mild.

 Bleeding: There may be slight bleeding in the form of leakage and it may stop spontaneously. In case of dripping or excessive bleeding, you should consult your doctor.

Infection: It may occur when circumcision is not performed under appropriate conditions or when post-circumcision care is not appropriate. Local or systemic antibiotic treatment may be required.
