Everyone with Trembling Hands Should Be Examined!

Parkinson's disease, which generally causes tremors, slow movements and gait problems, progresses insidiously, unnoticed at first.

Every year, April 11 is commemorated as "World Parkinson's Disease Day" in order to raise social awareness and awareness.

Parkinson is a very old disease and is named after the person who discovered the disease. Parkinson's disease, which is a progressive disease that generally causes slowing down of movements, falling, tremors and walking problems, starts very insidiously at first and increases slowly, barely noticeable. When patients come to the doctor, the disease has started several years ago.

There are two important types of Parkinson's

One is Parkinson's that progresses with slowing down and the other with tremors. Both may start at the same time; but it is rarer. Both tremor and slowing, regardless of their type, start unilaterally and progress to the other side after a while, becoming bilateral. Parkinson's, which progresses with slowing down, is a little more responsive to treatment; But in Parkinson's disease with tremors, stopping tremors is a little more difficult and requires higher doses of medication. Besides Parkinson's, forgetfulness etc. Certain problems may occur in advanced stages.

What is Parkinson's Plus?

There are also 'Parkinson addition' or 'Parkinson plus' syndromes, which we call 'Parkinson Plus'. Their general feature is that they are not as satisfactory as Parkinson's and their treatment is difficult. Patients are more unresponsive to medications and the course of the disease is more severe than Parkinson's disease. It progresses more rapidly and does not only present with Parkinson's symptoms. In addition to Parkinson's symptoms, problems such as autonomic system disorder, limitation of upward gaze, hand use problems, hand contractions, imbalance, shrinkage of the cerebellum, and shrinkage of the shell layer in the brain in the early stages may occur.

Anyone with a tremor in their hands should be examined. should pass

One of the prominent symptoms of Parkinson's disease is slowing down and the other is tremor. Anyone with tremors in their hands needs to be examined.

Second is slowing down; Immobility in the arm while walking, noticed by the patient's relatives. While walking, arms and legs move parallel. Generally, families notice and say, They say, 'You don't move your arm anymore' and 'You've become heavier'. Accordingly, patients may experience shoulder pain or slowdown in mental processes. Because dopamine is not only responsible for movement, it also controls the speed of thought. In other words, there may be a slowdown in the mind in these patients.

Decrease in facial expressions, imbalance and tremor are observed

There are some things that attract our attention when we see Parkinson's patients. At first, their faces are dull and facial expressions are much reduced. The number of blinks has decreased, and the oiliness and crusting on the facial skin has increased. They usually walk leaning forward and taking small steps. They are unstable and falls may occur as soon as they happen, and of course there will be tremors and/or slowness in the hand.
