Ear Nose Throat Diseases

The combination of these three organs in a single branch is not just a matter of neighbourhood. At the same time, their diseases affect each other.

When adenoid enlargement occurs, the inflammation passes to the middle ear through the eustachian tube. Middle ear infection or blistering occurs in the ear.

Adenoid is the immune tissue located at the very back of the nose. It protects against germs entering through the nose. However, if the adenoid becomes inflamed too frequently, it grows and blocks the Eustachian canal, impairing middle ear ventilation. Fluid collects in the ear. It is very common in children. If it does not heal with medication, the adenoid must be removed surgically and a ventilation tube must be placed in the eardrum. This tube can remain in the ears for 6-24 months.

Excessive swelling of the tonsils is due to their frequent inflammation. Swollen tonsils suppress appetite and block the respiratory tract. It may cause frequent fever and convulsions. It may be accompanied by adenoid enlargement in children. In this case, breathing becomes difficult. Snoring and shortness of breath are common in children. It is a dangerous situation. Adenoids and tonsils may need to be removed surgically.

Nasal congestion; It may be due to bone protrusions, cartilage curvatures and flesh. If bone and cartilage disorders are advanced, they can usually be corrected with surgery after the age of 17. If the nasal flesh is allergic, it is treated with allergy medications. Advanced polyp disease can only be removed by endoscopic sinusitis surgery. If nasal diseases are not treated; Sinusitis inflammations, ear diseases, nasal speech and snoring disorders may develop.

Vocal cord nodules; It develops in situations such as amateur singing, shouting too much, using one's voice too much and postnasal drip. People with sinusitis, enlarged adenoids, allergy sufferers and those with nasal contusions experience hoarseness due to postnasal drip. Even if the voice is strained too much, nodules and vocal cord polyps may also develop.
