Anxiety and Fear in Children

Everything that is new and unknown can scare us. Fears and anxieties can be seen very frequently in children. One of the main reasons for fears in children is that their parents trigger these fears. Especially their parents should be the most reliable port for them at first. However, if there is a tremor in this port, the children's anxiety begins to increase. Unrest at home, arguments between parents, raising voices, and the fear of losing a mother or father are immediately noticed by children. In addition, using threatening words to children who have fears will trigger and increase this fear even more. Intimidating messages applied by parents to control children's behavior become embedded in children's subconscious, thus increasing their anxiety. For example, if you don't sleep for a child who doesn't sleep, bogeymen will come. Or approaching a child who is not eating with scary words such as "If you don't eat, you will get an injection" is not a solution, on the contrary, it is a fear-increasing behavior. All children and even babies feel their parents' panic and anxiety. Some families do not directly stink the child. However, if the mother talks about illness or death as a sad event while talking to someone on the phone, the child hears and feels this. Or their fears begin to be reflected in children, such as taking security measures and closing the windows to prevent thieves from entering, checking the door frequently, screaming when they see an animal. And besides these, there are overprotective families. In such cases, be careful about the child, do not approach the window, you may fall, do not touch when a dog or a cat is seen, you may catch germs or bite. This may cause insecurity and timid behavior in children of overprotective families.

Sometimes, children say that they are afraid and go to sleep with their parents. They state what they want. There are many reasons behind this. In such cases, we must understand well what the child's real needs are. That's why we shouldn't think that he can sleep if he wants, it's just an excuse. The underlying fear and anxiety is that he cannot leave his parents and feels the need to be with them. In addition, there may be fear of the dark. Everything is very different for them in the dark. Dream worlds come into play It starts to suck. They think that the terrible heroes or bogeymen they watch or imagine may appear at any time. They may think that the ghosts will disappear when the light is on. Children may experience symptoms such as nausea, dizziness, vomiting, abdominal pain, and heart palpitations after fear. These signals are indicators that the child cannot cope with his fears. In such cases, you should take precautions and seek help from an expert.
