Torticollis, also known as 'crooked neck', occurs as a result of a problem in the muscle that allows us to turn the head from one side to the other. While the head is tilted to one side, the chin is moving to the other side.
YOUR BABY MAY BE BORN WITH A CURVED NECK
Torticollis seen in babies is usually caused by the wrong position of the baby in the womb. Due to the wrong position of the head in the womb, the muscle in the front of the neck is damaged or the blood flow of the muscle is affected. Due to damage to the muscle, muscle tissue becomes tight and shortened. Therefore, in babies with torticollis, the head leans to one side and the baby has difficulty turning its head fully. He doesn't want to turn his head to the other side. During breastfeeding, she has difficulty feeding from the side where the problem occurs. In some cases, facial asymmetry, vision and hearing problems may also develop.
WHO IS TORTICOLLIS?
Torticollis can be seen in any person who has a muscle and nervous system injury. Even if you sleep in an uncomfortable position, you may wake up with torticollis in the morning. This situation resolves itself within 1-2 days. Sometimes it occurs as a result of long-term spasm (cramp) of the neck muscles. Over time, you will experience pain in the muscle that becomes shortened and tense, and you will have difficulty doing your daily tasks. Symptoms of torticollis, which are more common in middle age and women, start slowly and worsen over time.

However, muscle strengthening is necessary.
Exercise program for babies is done together with games. Various warnings are given to the baby to turn his head to the other side. Stretching is done to the neck muscles. One After how many months will the muscle development be felt? In infants and children, treatment is easier and a response is obtained more quickly.
