As you can see in the section below, when we cut the penis horizontally, it is seen that it consists of 3 main structures. The upper two of these are the structures that enable erection (corpus cavernosum). The third one at the bottom is the structure called corpus spongiosum, which allows the urine coming to the bladder to be discharged to the outside thanks to the urethra (urinary tube) inside it. Again, through the urethra, the sperm produced in the testicles and the seminal fluid produced in the secondary sex organs are all discharged to the outside at once. Apart from all these structures, there is an elastic membrane (tunica albuginea) that protects the penis. The inside of the corpus spongiosum consists of a spongy tissue and thanks to this structure, the formation and maintenance of erection is ensured.
PENILE DISEASES
- PHIMOSIS (Penis Narrow foreskin)
The tip of the foreskin is very narrow. There is an opening the size of a pin head. The inner surface of the skin is attached to the head of the penis. The skin cannot be pulled back behind the head. It is either congenital or develops later after an inflammatory event. If it is too narrow, the patient cannot urinate. In fact, the foreskin swells like a balloon as urine collects under the skin. Urine flows in drops. If left untreated, inflammation develops as a result of irritation of the urine and this inflammation causes wounds in the penis head area. The treatment is circumcision.
- PARHAPHYMOSIS (Foreskin pulling back)
It is the foreskin being pulled back behind the head of the penis and not being able to come forward again. It usually occurs in the narrowing of the foreskin. The skin is pulled back by the child or his parents for cleaning purposes, then the skin swells and turns red, suffocating the head of the penis. If it is early stage in the treatment, the skin is tried to be pulled forward. However, if it is late, there is no other option than circumcision.
- PENILE INJURIES, PENIS DIFFERENCES
Since the penis is a movable organ, it protects itself against impacts. . Complete rupture occurs after accidents or intentional cutting (due to jealousy and revenge). During strokes, blood settles in the penis. Penis fractures occur as a result of sudden and harsh bending of the erect penis. Prone to erection problems Early treatment is important to prevent the disease.
- BALANOPOSTITIS (Penile inflammation)
It progresses due to stenosis in children and due to non-compliance with cleanliness in adults. income. It occurs as inflammation of the foreskin and/or glans penis.
