Chin Implants (Jaw Augmentation)

Our jaw is the most important aesthetic organ of our lower face. The most important aesthetic organ of the mid-face is the nose. Chin and nose are the most important elements that form the shape of our face.

Congenitally, the chin structure is backwards or due to age, the volume of the muscles and fat tissue in the chin decreases and the tissues with decreased volume sag downwards due to gravity, causing deformity in our chin. It can cause facial asymmetry and make us look tired and old.

Jaw implants can add permanent volume to your chin, which sags downward over time. Having a chin augmentation will not require repeated chin fillings. Having a sharper chin that does not sag downwards makes you look livelier and younger.

This procedure can be performed under both local and general anesthesia. Surgery time is approximately 1 hour.

There is very little pain during and after the surgery. We respond very well to painkillers. In the first days after surgery, there may be swelling and edema in the jaw, bruising rarely occurs. Chin augmentation is a day surgery, meaning you usually do not need to stay in the hospital after surgery. We do not want the patient to consume hot, acidic and spicy foods and drinks in the first week after surgery, as these may slow down healing and increase pain. Applying ice for the first 48 hours can reduce edema and bruising. The stitches placed inside the mouth are absorbable and do not need to be removed. Since the procedure is performed through the mouth, there is no scar left on the face.

It can be performed along with chin augmentation and other surgeries and procedures such as bichectomy (cheek fat removal), cheekbone filling, lip lifting surgery. Performing these procedures together allows the face to take the “inverted triangle” shape, which is essential for looking younger and more vibrant.
