CLOSED GALLBLADDER SURGERY THROUGH A SINGLE HOLE

The treatment of Gallbladder Stones that cause complaints is surgery. If they are not operated on, the stones may come out of the gallbladder and cause blockage in the main bile duct, thus causing jaundice. Slightly larger ones block the outlet of the gallbladder, causing swelling and inflammation of the gallbladder, which may require emergency surgery.

Today, the most suitable surgery for gallstones is closed (laparoscopic). is the method. In closed gallbladder surgeries, 3-4 holes, approximately 1 cm in size, are normally made in the abdominal wall.

However, it was performed for the first time in the world in May 2007 and was performed with SILS (single incision). In the method called laparoscopic surgery, surgery is performed through a single incision of approximately 2 cm made from the belly button. Through this single hole, special angled tools with bending ends are sent into the abdomen. The tools are separated from each other when entered into the abdomen, allowing comfortable use. Additionally, to facilitate the application, the pouch can sometimes be hung on the abdominal wall with the help of a suture sent to the abdomen. Thus, this technique can be easily applied in uncomplicated gallbladder pathologies with normal anatomical features.

Single-hole gallbladder surgery is performed with a different but safer and easier technique than the first described SILS technique. With this technique, it is performed on the abdominal wall. It is performed by making three small holes through a single skin incision, without making a 2-3 cm incision as in the other technique, and without the need for angled hand tools. This method makes the surgery easier, the same or even better cosmetic result can be achieved (the skin incision is hidden in the belly), and it provides the patient with a less painful and more comfortable period after the surgery.
