What is Anal Abscess?
The main area is one of the body parts that is most resistant to infection due to its nature. Although infections and abscesses that may occur in this region may be secondary to many systemic diseases, the most common cause is due to the anatomical formations of this region.
In the clinic, it may be superficial and visible from the outside, or it may be deep, at a level that can only be seen with the help of medical devices.
Classically located abscesses in patients are generally clinical
Duck walk (waddle walk)
Extreme tenderness and pain
Fever
Difficulty in sitting
Difficulty in passing stool
When the patient is examined proctologically with these clinical findings, redness in the anal area and swelling giving the impression of fluid are observed.
It is one of the leading proctological diseases that require urgent surgical approach. Otherwise, it may lead to situations that are difficult to compensate for and may have sad consequences.
Anal Abscess Treatment
As in all abscesses, the abscess must be drained and the abscess area must be cleaned. The anal area is an area that requires attention in terms of both muscle structures and nerves. This procedure is performed by a physician who is familiar with the anal area, and the patient feels relieved after the procedure. Contrary to popular belief, the treatment of anal abscess is not antibiotics, because antibiotics cannot penetrate into the undrained abscess wall. Appropriate antibiotic treatment is added to the treatment after the evacuation process. As we mentioned at the beginning, there is a close causality between anal abscess and fistula. A high percentage of patients presenting with anal abscess may develop a main fistula after treatment.
