Teeth Whitening (Bleaching)

With the advances made in dentistry, it is possible to have white teeth with some substances that whiten teeth, instead of having yellowed teeth cut and veneered. In the bleaching (teeth whitening) method, if the patient has dental stones, they are first cleaned. After a few days, the whitening process begins.

There are two types of whitening methods. The first is home whitening methods that patients can apply at home, and the second is office whitening methods applied in the clinic.

In home whitening; For people who decide to whiten their teeth, after a detailed oral examination, a mold is prepared by dentists to cover the tooth surface. A whitening gel is squeezed into this mold and it is asked to remain in the patient's mouth for about 8 hours, especially at night. This cure is applied for 7-10 days. In order to support the office type whitening method, it is applied especially in the treatment of advanced tooth discolorations.

Office or clinic type whitening is the whitening method applied by dentists. It can be applied to one tooth or all teeth in the smile line. The lips, gums and inside of the cheeks are covered with special insulation materials to prevent damage. A special light that accelerates whitening is applied to the whitening material applied to the teeth. After a procedure of approximately 30-45 minutes, the substance is cleared. 1 to 3 sessions are applied according to the preference of the patient and the physician. At the end of these procedures, the teeth will lighten up to 2-3 shades. (This may differ in each case.)

Teeth whitening does not cause irreversible harm to the teeth. Although it causes the tooth enamel to become more sensitive during and after the application, this situation improves after a while and, as research shows, it does not cause a significant change on the enamel.
