It has been observed that Schema Therapy is more effective in the treatment of chronic depression, which we call dysthymia, as in personality disorders. Schema therapy system; It is quite an extension of the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy system, but also influenced by Psychodynamic and Gestalt therapy. By identifying the root schemas that cause chronic depression in therapy; cognitive, experiential and behavioral dimensions are studied in depth through the therapy relationship.

As for the causes of chronic depression; They are early maladaptive schemas that arise as a result of temperament structure, chaotic family history, unmet childhood needs, cognitive factors and interpersonal communication problems and deeply affect a person's life.

Note: For diagnosis in this process, the person must have;

* Never had mania or hypomania.
