The most important weapon in the fight against both types of diabetes (type 1/type 2), which are associated with high blood sugar, is: DIET.
Type 1: a form of diabetes related to your innate immunity. It occurs because the insulin hormone, which ensures the transmission of sugar to blood cells, cannot be produced.
Type 2: 'Insulin resistance', which means the cells cannot respond to the insulin hormone, is one of the characteristic features of diabetes. Unfortunately, 80% of these patients are overweight. Due to the negative effect of abdominal fat on maintaining insulin balance, weight loss is the most important factor in breaking this resistance.
Which foods are good?
It is necessary to consume healthy fats with low glycemic index, soluble fiber; nuts, whole grains, olives/olive oil, milk and dairy products, of course fish (which should be consumed in abundance when in season), lean red meat/chicken…
What about the bad ones?
Unhealthy fatty foods (margarine, ready-made sauces, mayonnaise, etc.), foods containing a lot of sodium (canned goods, packaged products, etc.), foods with high glycemic index (white bread, white rice), confectionery, sweeteners…
Eating healthy and increasing physical activity helps you lose weight. It reduces the risk of diseases such as heart diseases, eye disorders and hearing loss. And in this regard, medical supervision should not be neglected.
